In September 2020, awebsitefor theGlobal PFAS Science Panelwas launched. The organization describes itself as “a collaborative partnership among academic researchers, regulatory scientists and policy analysts dedicated to enhancing understanding of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and to protecting human and environmental health from potentially adverse effects associated with PFAS through better informed decision-making.” The site provides background information on a series of projects and related publications developed by the group’s members. These include investigating theessential usesof PFAS, total human health and environmentalimpacts,effortsto move towards a global phase-out of the class of substances, and acallfor persistence to be recognized as a major cause of concern on its own.
